Jimmy Onishi “Antarctica” reproduction

SunM Color was involved in the digital archiving and reproduction of paintings by comedian and painter Jimmy Onishi for an exhibition commemorating his 30 years of painting. The works, which seem to be bursting out of the canvas with rich colors, are painted with careful strokes of thin brush strokes. To ensure that each brushstroke on the canvas is conveyed, a Gigapixel Art Scanner was used to read not only the color but also the texture and unevenness of the canvas to create the reproductions.
