It has been two years since his first collection “SURI COLLECTION”, and his second and best collection “HEROES” is finally completed. This book is the culmination of “Nagi Yoshida,” a photographer who has been photographing heroes (minorities) from all over the world!
When she was 5 years old, Nagi Yoshida was fascinated by the Maasai people she saw on TV. More than 20 years have passed since then. She has since become an adult, and with her self-taught camera in hand, she went out on her own to capture with her own eyes the heroes (minorities) that still exist on the earth today. This is not the “Africa to be saved” symbolized by “The Vulture and the Girl,” but the mother earth and the African minorities who live under it, full of vitality. Not a savage people living in a savage land, but a proud minority of Oceania who have preserved their ancient traditions to this day. We would like to present the existence of the world's ethnic minorities as “cool” heroes, full of vitality and pride. In order to bring out the best of the ethnic groups who continue to carry on their traditional way of life in diverse environments, we gathered around the table laughing together, and sometimes happily became one and the same.
The exhibition includes many previously unpublished works, including those presented at the “Nagi Yoshida Photography Exhibition HEROES,” which was held at the Seibu Shibuya Store from May 30~June 26, 2017, attracting over 10,000 visitors and becoming a hot topic of conversation. (More locations will be added in the future before the release of the book.) The size of the book is B4 size (257mm x 364mm). The book is a B4 size (257mm x 364mm) “super-large” edition with 128 pages, including many photographs and a never-before-reported memoir of the shoot written by Nagi Yoshida himself.
Message from Nagi Yoshida I would like to present to you beautiful and proud heroes who exist in the same era as us, but who seem to have emerged out of mythology. And we are happy if we can make you feel a little closer to them.
