Works
A long-awaited collection of paintings by one of the most important artists of our time. Gerhard Richter has been pursuing the principles of human perception of things while working with a variety of materials such as oil, photography, glass, and mirrors in the space between “abstract” and “figurative” expression. This book is the official catalogue of the largest solo exhibition ever to be held in Japan in 2022-23, and includes approximately 140 illustrations from Richter's early works to his latest drawings, including “Birkenau” (2014), which was exhibited for the first time in Japan with the theme of the Holocaust. The exhibition attempts to decipher his wide range of expressions through keyword explanations, discussions, abundant documentary photographs, and important overseas papers and interviews.
